In Samarkand, the “Silk Road” International Research Institute is holding the second international scientific-practical seminar on the topic “Ways to Restore Endangered Carpet Types of Uzbekistan”. Today, the plenary session marking the opening of the international scientific-practical seminar began. The moderator of the plenary session is Mavlyuda Aminjonovna Yusupova, Director of the “Silk Road” International Research Institute, Doctor of Architecture, and Professor.
In the plenary session, R. Mirzaaxmedov, the chairman of the “Hunarmand” Association, participated with an opening speech.
The program of the event includes presentations on the “Silk Road” International Research Institute’s activities for 2024–2025, the Chinese court carpets of the 14th–19th centuries: decoration, regional features, the second half of the 19th century Uzbek and Karakalpak carpets based on materials from S. M. Dudina at the Russian Ethnographic Museum, handwoven carpets of Uzbekistan: traditions and modern development issues, the forgotten heritage of woven carpets in Kyrgyzstan: three cases on their revival (online), carpet weaving of tribal-ethnic groups in Southern Uzbekistan: preservation and restoration issues, from oblivion to revival: examples of the interconnections between Turkmen and Uzbek art in the lost carpets of the Middle Amu Darya, Karakalpak carpet weaving: traditions and innovations, and the lost traditions of Fergana Valley carpet weaving: museum collections and preservation issues.
